One of the key aims of the competition is to develop musical practice and performance in the broadest sense.

Accordingly, this event is accompanied by actions raising the awareness within the younger generation. Today, teachers are offered two types of activities related to the piano :

Competition and Schools

Every year, the competition welcomes nearly 1000 school children
during auditions or talks. For further information, please contact us.

Interactive conference about piano music with a professional pianist

Duration: About 60 minutes

In Maisons-Laffitte (at the Conservatory for local schools) or in a school (when the establishment is equipped with a piano), debate with a professional pianist. This talk is ideally, but not necessarily, part of a teacher’s educational programme on classical music, piano, instruments or a composer. Questions and answers on piano making, the profession of pianist but also on works and composers. A rich and intense exchange with the pianist! Illustrated by many music examples. The pupils’ curiosity is raised. Classical music in general and the piano in particular are made accessible to schoolchildren who, for some of them, have never been able to attend a concert and do not listen to classical music.

School trip: Competition

Possibility to attend the auditions of the real competition, a true concert free of charge. 15 to 45 minutes depending on the number of candidates.

School groups are welcomed on site (Salle Malesherbes in Maisons-Laffitte, Yvelines) by the Head of the Municipal School and Education department.

Explanations about how a competition is organised and on the important preparation work of candidates from all over the world. Listening to one or more auditions, genuine concerts (pupils and their accompanying persons supervised by volunteers of Opus Yvelines in the hall).

Exchanges with a pianist at the end of an audition (with prior preparation of questions in the classroom).
